BASIC STATS:

Troll is a term for several subspecies that are placed together in a larger category. Trolls are generally defined by their large stature, powerful builds, and their extreme toughness and durability.  Trolls have often associated with orcs and goblins and have served as shock troops and warriors for nearly every nation and empire the world has ever seen.

Once seen as big, tough, and stupid, trolls threw this stereotype into the wind during the Great War as they refused to join the Teutonic Empire's growing armies and forces, often times to their own detriment. Trollish warrior code is strict and still adhered to by many even in modern times. There are three main types of trolls.

Western

Originating and Europe and Africa, western trolls have often been associated with orcish warlords throughout history. Western trolls first organized into warrior clans during the Roman Empire era, a tradition that has continued through to modern times. They are highly regarded among the other races as honorable and trustworthy, even in these modern times of Corporate excess and swindling.

Sometimes called Ogres in times past, Western Trolls are generally between seven and a half to eight and a half feet in height and weigh anywhere between 400 to 600 pounds. They generally have dark hair though lighter colors are not unheard of, eyes of various greens, yellows, or reds, curled horns at the sides of their heads, and two tusks that grow upwards from their lower jaw. They often have pointed ears as well but this is not always the case. Many develop bone protrusions from joints like knuckles, knees, and elbows which can be used as a form of natural weaponry.

Western trolls are known for their resilience, while not having the regenerative capabilities of the Dullahan or the zoanthropes they are renowned for being able to absorb physical punishment and keep going. Western trolls have a lifespan comparable to humans and are capable of the same intelligence and various morale standings.

Jotunn

Given their name after the giants of norse history, this subrace of trolls originated in, you guessed it, nordic lands. First seen outside of their nordic homelands during the dark ages when Viking raiders rampaged across Europe, Jotunn were first thought to be actual giants returned to life. For centuries this belief that they were some remnant of the fallen giants of antiquity persevered and it was only in the past century that their true nature was discovered through genetic testing.

Unlike other trolls, Jotunn look human, just much bigger. Jotunn typically stand anywhere between eight and nine feet tall and can weigh upwards of 700 pounds. They typically have fair hair and blue eyes. They were greatly feared as raiders during the dark ages and are highly sought after in modern times by corporations, governments, and others to serve as soldiers.

Jotunn are physically incredibly powerful, known for great feats of strength through the ages. While not quite as resilient as their cousins to the south in mainland Europe they are still extremely tough and shrug off wounds that would be fatal to most. Their magic users, while rare, do exist and often practice their magic in the old ways of runes and bindings. Jotunn take cybernetic augmentation just fine and has very few cases of rejection.

Jotunn tend to be very proud of their heritage and often live their entire lives by the 'old ways' as they call it. While each clan has their own interpretation of this creed it most often contains rules pertaining to personal honor and the laws of combat.
